The start of this activity is about 8 kilometers from the city center, in the western part of town. Before we start riding, we will adjust the bicycles for maximum comfort, do a brief check, and talk about the tour, especially safety aspects. The ride will begin with a warm-up to get familiar with the bike and learn how to use the gears properly.
In the first kilometers, the landscape begins to unfold: gravel trails crossing cypress and coihue forests, with Cerro Catedral and Cerro La Vieja visible on the horizon.
This mountain bike tour is designed to connect you with the scenery and leave you wanting to do it again. Every pedal stroke and every corner of the forest and valley invites you to look closely and enjoy the simple and profound beauty of Bariloche.
We will stop at the Virgen de las Nieves roundabout area and enter trails with fresh air carrying the scent of the earth and the murmur of Gutiérrez Stream. We will explore Central Park, with its old power plant and the National Park’s native plant nursery.
The route continues west, following trails surrounded by broom shrubs and transitional forest vegetation. Every curve offers a new postcard: clearings where light filters through, small streams crossing the trail, and spots where nature seems to pause, inviting you to take photos and absorb every detail.
The pace is steady and relaxed; the terrain, mostly gentle, allows you to look around and enjoy the silence. The start offers quick access from the city, and as a private tour, the experience adapts to your pace and interests.
We will take the Old Road, where Amancay flowers (spanish) decorate the route. This day is designed for those who value silence, detail, and the feeling of being immersed in the forest, streams, and lakes. The combination of trails, water, and vegetation makes each section feel unique and surprising, keeping the excitement throughout the ride.
The tour balances effort and enjoyment: it does not require advanced skills and is perfect for leisurely cycling while admiring the landscape. The route profile allows for a comfortable pace, with flat sections and some gentle climbs that add physical interest without being too demanding.
In spring, the trail is adorned with wildflowers and vibrant greens; in autumn, warm colors transform the path into a carpet of leaves. Experiencing these seasonal changes enhances the feeling of being part of a living, ever-changing landscape.
We will reach the Casa de Piedra Bridge, which crosses the stream of the same name. In summer, it’s a perfect spot to cool off. At midday, we will look for a quiet place for a picnic—either at this stream, or for those with energy left, it’s possible to continue to Colonia Suiza or another peaceful spot on Lake Moreno. On the return, we will take alternative trails.
The route can be extended by visiting local businesses such as the trout farm, choosing sections with jumps or challenging climbs, crossing a stream on foot, or stopping at viewpoints for incredible photos. For those seeking a greater physical challenge, it’s possible to head toward the Villa Catedral area.
