Winter Trekking Activities

The trekking doesn’t stop in winter. We put on our snowshoes, adjust our backpacks, and head out to hike to one of the many mountains or refuges in Bariloche.

FULL-DAY TREKS
Walking in the snowy forest is an incredible experience, a dreamlike postcard that you immerse yourself in and become part of. The winter season begins with the first snowfalls and extends until spring, as the snow remains in the higher elevations.

Refuge López

Reaching the refuge after walking along snowy trails and having something warm to drink is an unforgettable memory. There is no more complete connection with nature, the forest, the majestic Nahuel Huapi Lake, the snow, Cerro López, and above all, the spirit of the mountain.

Goye

Cerro Goye offers a completely different experience in winter. Far from tourist trails, this trekking is characterized by its tranquility and deep contact with nature. The snow-covered summit offers an incredible panoramic view of Nahuel Huapi Lake and its islands, which look even more impressive at this time of year.

Bella Vista

A demanding experience in the winter season. Far from tourist trails, this hill offers a serene environment, ideal for connecting with nature. Its summit provides a 360º panoramic view that justifies its name, allowing you to observe lakes and Patagonian snow-covered mountains.

Ventana (Window)

A unique and rewarding winter adventure. Covered in snow on its highest sections, it offers a technical challenge with a serene atmosphere, far from the bustle of crowded trails. The famous rock “window,” framed in white, provides spectacular views of Lake Gutiérrez, snow-capped hills, and the Patagonian winter landscape. Ideal for deeply connecting with the mountain and nature during this season.

Otto / Hasburg Rock

A rocky promontory shaped by glaciation, overlooking Lake Gutiérrez and the entire southern valley of Bariloche. Reaching this spot in winter is a beautiful experience. Wearing snowshoes on the upper part, we will walk along wide snow-covered trails, and if we’re lucky, we’ll hear the tapping of a woodpecker working on the tree trunks.

La Vieja (The Old Woman)

Walking along snowy trails and having something warm to drink will be an unforgettable memory for you. There is no more complete connection with nature—the crunch of the snowshoes, the forest, and the majestic Nahuel Huapi Lake. It’s incredible to look up and see condors soaring in our skies.

OVERNIGHT TREKS
Reaching a refuge after walking along snowy trails and having something warm to drink is an unforgettable memory. There is no deeper connection with nature, the forest, the frozen lagoons, the snow, and above all, the spirit of the mountain. If you’re looking for a deeper connection, you can experience the mountain atmosphere by spending the night inside a refuge.

Refuge López (2 days)

Reaching the refuge after walking along snowy trails and having something warm to drink is an unforgettable memory. There is no more complete connection with nature, the forest, the majestic Nahuel Huapi Lake, the snow, Cerro López, and above all, the spirit of the mountain.

Refuge Jakob (2 or 3 days)

When winter arrives in Bariloche, the trail to Refugio Jakob transforms into a true challenge for the senses. The forest becomes covered in snow, the streams quiet beneath the ice, and silence dominates the valley. It’s an intense experience, reserved for those seeking more than just a walk: a true winter adventure in the mountains.

Refuge Ilón Lagoon (3 days)

During winter, the classic trail to Ilón Lagoon transforms completely. What is a green and open forest in summer becomes a white and silent corridor in winter, where every step crunches on the snow and every frozen branch reflects the sunlight. The experience is different: more introspective, more demanding, more wild.

Refuge Frey (2 days)

The silence of the forest, the crunch of snow under your feet, and the warmth of the refuge at the end of the day make this trekking unique for you, who seek to connect with the mountain in its most intimate version.
